Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Maple Calculator at 4.7 against NCSU MyTech's 3.9. Maple Calculator also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (1.5K vs 11). NCSU MyTech's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 62%) and in-app purchases (none vs 3). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Maple Calculator holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Maple Calculator has 1.5K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of NCSU MyTech's written reviews are positive against 62% of Maple Calculator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

NCSU MyTech ships an update every 9 months, Maple Calculator every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
