Verdict
The clearest difference is price: DRIVESHARE Car at Free against DMV CA Appointment's $19.99. DRIVESHARE Car also leads on rating (3.1 vs 2.3) and ratings volume (30 vs 3). DMV CA Appointment's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 11 days vs every 2 months). On in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

DRIVESHARE Car is free to download; DMV CA Appointment costs $19.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
DRIVESHARE Car holds the better App Store score, 3.1 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DRIVESHARE Car has 30 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 15% of DRIVESHARE Car's written reviews are positive against 33% of DMV CA Appointment's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
DRIVESHARE Car ships an update every 2 months, DMV CA Appointment every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
