Tap Start and type for 60 seconds. Typero shows your words per minute, your accuracy and every mistake, highlighted in the passage you just typed. Pick 15, 30 or 60 seconds, or count words instead of time. Passages wrap by whole words, so the next line is always in view. • A daily challenge, the same passage for everyone, with a streak count • One free Coach workout, aimed at the keys that slow you down • A graph of your last 30 sessions, your history and 12 achievements • Game Center leaderboards for the 15, 30 and 60-second tests and the daily • Common words, simple sentences, micro essays and calm passages to type Typero is free, with an occasional ad between tests. Typero Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It keeps the Coach going: it reads your results, picks your next workout and shows your trouble keys on a heatmap. It also adds 120-second and custom lengths, three practice modes, your own text, the full library of quotes, literature, speeches, drills and professional terms, five more themes, iCloud backup, CSV export and no ads.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Typero at 3.6 against Type's 3.0. Type's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Typero sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Type asks for nothing beyond the download.
Typero holds the better App Store score, 3.6 against 3.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 5 and 2 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 88% of Typero's written reviews are positive against 100% of Type's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Typero ships an update every 2 months, Type every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
