Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Type at 100% against Typr's 55%. Type also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). Typr's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (78 vs 2). On price and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Typr sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Type asks for nothing beyond the download.
Typr holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Typr has 78 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Typr's written reviews are positive against 100% of Type's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Typr ships an update every 2 months, Type every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
