PIDTune
This utility calculates PID tuning parameters using the IMC method for various process and controller types. It allows for direct input of process gain or variable changes, with adjustable tuning aggression via a slider.
- IMC method for PID tuning
- Calculates Kc, Ti, Td
- Supports FO, SO, and I process types
- Handles Parallel and Series controller types
- Adjustable tuning aggression slider
- Input process gain or variable changes

PID Tuner uses the IMC (Internal Model Control) method to calculate PID tuning parameters. I’ve tried a lot of tuning methods over the years and have found this one to be the best. The app is written for the iPad to show all the information on one page. The program calculates: PID Parameters: Controller Gain (Kc) Integral Time (Ti) Derivative Time (Td) For process types First Order with Dead Time (FO) Second Order with Dead Time (SO) Integrating or Long Time Constant with Dead Time (I) For controller types Parallel (non-interacting) c(s) = Kc (1 + 1/(Ti s) + Td s) Series (interacting) c(s) = Kc (Ti s + 1)/(Ti s)(Td s + 1) For controller modes PID PI You can either enter the process gain (Kp) directly or enter the changes in the controlled virable (CV) and manipulated variable (MV). Tuning aggression is adjusted using the slider to set the closed loop time constant to the process time constant ratio (λ/Ƭ). The closed loop time constant (λ) is the time the controller is expected to reach set point (plus the dead time (ϴ)). Setting the closed loop time constant to process time constant ratio (λ/Ƭ) to 1.0 will make the MV change to its final value and allow the process to settle out to the setpoint. Setting (λ/Ƭ) greater than 1.0 will give a slower responce. Setting (λ/Ƭ) less than 1.0 will cause the MV to make a larger change and then reduce to its final value. Tight tuning would be to set the close loop time constant to the dead time. Use the Integrating Process type (Ƭ = ∞) for both integrating processes or processes with long time constants. These processes use the maximum slope as the process gain. Tuning aggression for these processes is determined by setting the closed loop time constant to the dead time ratio (λ/ϴ). Once again, setting the closed loop time constat to the dead time gives tight control. FI CON TYPE-X EASY mode exclusive operation application. This application is for FI CON TYPE-X only. It can not be used for the conventional FI CON TYPE-ENIGMA Z 125 or DILTS-JAPAN ENIGMA series. This application is only for EASY mode which can adjust the ignition time. There is a dedicated application in EXPERT mode that can set the ignition time. This application can be downloaded for free. When it is free, you can connect with all FI - CON TYPE - X, but only the tachometer screen is displayed. (Only tachometer and TPS are displayed). In order to set various functions of FI CON TYPE-X, you need to purchase the model data corresponding to FI CONTYPE-X you have from the model selection screen. When purchasing and selecting model data, the following functions can be used. - Preset data combined with TAKEGAWA made boa up kit etc. are prepared. Preset data can be easily written to FI - CON. - + 20 / - 20 degree spark advance / delay angle can be adjusted for each engine rotation / throttle position. It is also possible to adjust the dwell time. - The fuel injection amount can be set for each engine rotation / throttle position. - Fuel correction at idling can be performed. - Startability and idling stabilization correction function when using a big injector. (Only for compatible models) - Adjustment of fuel injection time by engine temperature and intake air temperature is possible. - It is possible to set injection timing at each rotation speed. - Various maps can be displayed in 3D graph. - Two maps can be put inside FI - CON, and it can be switched with an external switch. - In real time, you can display tachometer, throttle opening monitor, injector opening / closing rate, oil / water · engine temperature (depending on model),Voltage (Applicable models only). - Display the current engine speed and throttle position in real time in the fuel map. - Revolution Limit can be set . - Pit-in limit can be set (Applicable model only) - Digital acceleration pump can be set. - It is possible to correct the TPS sensor according to the actual machine. - You can make several fuel data and save it, you can change it immediately when you need it. - It corresponds to Japanese and English. No pairing is necessary. On the Bluetooth setting screen, FI-CON is not searched. Please turn on Bluetooth on the Bluetooth setting screen, then exit the setting screen with the Home button, launch the application, and connect from "Connect to FI - CON" of the application.
