Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: SmarterVegas.com at 4.8 against RTC Transit Watch's 3.1. SmarterVegas.com also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 14 months) and ratings volume (907 vs 14). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
SmarterVegas.com holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SmarterVegas.com has 907 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of SmarterVegas.com's written reviews are positive against 67% of RTC Transit Watch's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
SmarterVegas.com ships an update every 3 weeks, RTC Transit Watch every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
