The app works great with the iPhone and iPod Touch and it also works great with the Apple Watch. The developer has tested this app around the world - from Mt Rainier snowshoeing in the US to hiking snowy hills in Antarctica, from quiet Seattle suburban streets to the bustling city streets of Madurai, India, Santiago, Chile and more, Marcher sur les marches de la tour Eiffel, Paris and walking around Stanley Park, Canada Features include 1. Review your steps for today, yesterday, last week and last month on the iPhone (iPhone 5S or later), iPod Touch (6th generation) or Apple Watch 2. Easy to use 3. Privacy: We don’t track your personally identifiable information like name, phone number etc. This app doesn’t ask for location information and we have never provided user information to any third party. 4. Automatic Step Counting: The app works as if it were always on and it continuously tracks your steps (as long as you’re either carrying your iPhone or iPodTouch with you OR you’re wearing your Apple Watch). The app works at all locations, regardless of how you carry the iPhone, iPod Touch or Watch (hands, pockets, purse, wrist etc.) 5. Goal setting: Do you want the standard 10,000 step goal or do you a want goal of 2,100 steps/day or perhaps 25,000 steps a day. Setting the right goal can motivate you to walk more and this app lets you customise your goals. 6. Battery use efficiency: The app doesn’t use battery resources when it isn’t running. It uses the battery efficiently when it is running. It doesn’t use GPS features. 7. Health news (based on new and old medical research) from within the app 8. Keep fit yourself with daily step counts and activities. The number of steps you take every day will be counted and displayed on the home screen of the app. Also, you can use the app to analyze your movements, climbing stairs, running and doing physical exercises. Use a pedometer to see how much you've walked to reach your daily steps goal or understand how many steps you need to lose weight. The steps goal can be adjusted in the settings. The pedometer converts your activity into consumed calories and you can more accurately calculate the balance of consumption and expenditure of calories, change your diet and physical activity. Using the application constantly, you get a graph on which you can observe your progress over time. This app integrates with Apple Health to display your activity data and make information graphs and display tabs with this data. Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Steps, The Pedometer App at 100% against Pedometer's 64%. Steps, The Pedometer App also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Pedometer's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months) and rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Steps, The Pedometer App sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Pedometer sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Pedometer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pedometer has 44 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Steps, The Pedometer App's written reviews are positive against 64% of Pedometer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Steps, The Pedometer App ships an update every 3 months, Pedometer fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and September 26, 2026 respectively.
