Read Scripture vs Bible Year

The goal of Read Scripture is that everyone would read the Bible for themselves and discover the truth and beauty of God’s Word. To this end, we are curating a year-long Bible reading plan and supplementing the reading with amazingly creative videos (produced by our friends at the Bible Project) that explain every book of the Bible, major theological themes of the gospel, and tips on how to read the Bible. We house all of this content in a beautifully designed app that is available to download in the App Store. We encourage you to experience Read Scripture in community but it is set up so that you can go through it on your own. This Bible reading plan app guides you through the ESV Bible in a year with readings from 4 different sections of the bible each day: • OT History & Prophets • Wisdom Books & Isaiah • Gospels • Epistles and Acts Because many Old Testament books are often more difficult for people to read through and enjoy, these books are paired with the Psalms, Gospels, and Epistles. In this way reader interest is not lost and so the soul can always find something to feed on each day while still covering the entirety of God's Word and cultivating an understanding and enjoyment of the whole Bible. This approach has proven to be more sustainable and enjoyable than simply reading the Bible cover-to-cover from Genesis to Revelation. For example, the reading for Day 1 includes: • Genesis 1-2 • Psalms 1 • Matthew 1:1-17 • Acts 1:1-11 "Makeup" days are built into the plan for each month. Each month has 25 days of readings, so you can miss a few days without getting too far behind; this practical measure helps to make this a sustainable reading plan. This application features: • ESV (English Standard Version) Bible text • Spoken audio included • Mark readings as completed to track your progress • Displays the number of days you are ahead or behind in the schedule including "makeup" days • Configurable starting month The Bible Year app allows you to choose a starting month so that you can begin reading through the Bible in a year at any time, not just on January 1st. For those who are already following the reading plan on paper, you can switch to using this application easily by setting your current progress with the "mark all completed before date" in Preferences.
