Ready for rehearsal? Cello Tuner brings every C G D A string into focus with a clear pitch needle, note name and frequency reading. Its pitch tracker follows a sustained bowed or plucked note through some background noise, helping you tune with confidence when the room is not perfectly quiet. Standard C G D A tuning Use Cello Tuner for the standard C, G, D and A strings, from the low C to the upper A. Keep the instrument layout in view while you work through each string before a lesson, home practice, or ensemble rehearsal. - See the detected note, octave and frequency. - Follow the needle to check sharp or flat pitch. - Tap a string button to hear a recorded reference sound. - Compare your string by ear, then confirm it on the display. Precision you can see Cello Tuner shows the note, octave and frequency in hertz. Its cent-based needle helps you move from “almost there” to in tune with small, accurate adjustments. When the sound is too uncertain, the detector waits for a clearer note instead of guessing. Get the best of both approaches: follow the needle or tap a recorded reference and tune by ear. A reference for your rehearsal Set A4 between 430 and 450 Hz to match the reference used for your pitch-detection checks. Options include 432, 440 and 442 Hz. Cello Tuner saves your choice for later sessions. Its recorded string sounds stay at their original pitch and do not transpose when you change A4. Follow notes in chromatic mode Switch to chromatic mode to display notes beyond the standard open strings. Use a sustained tone and watch the note name and needle as you check the pitch you are playing. A straightforward start to practice Allow microphone access, then bow or pluck one string at a time, especially on the lower strings. For your most accurate reading, let one string ring clearly near the microphone. If surrounding noise drowns out your cello, move closer to the microphone or find a quieter spot. Cello Tuner gives students, returning players and violoncello musicians visual feedback and sounds to compare. Built on tuner experience Our tuner apps have helped millions of users. Cello Tuner brings that experience to a focused cello tuning check.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Cello Tuner holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cello Tuner has 451 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of String Quartet SightRead Tutor's written reviews are positive against 40% of Cello Tuner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
