The NIOSH Lifting Equation calculator (NLE Calc) is based on the Applications Manual for the Revised NIOSH Lifting Equation (Pub No. 94-110) and can be used to calculate the Recommended Weight Limit (RWL) and for single or multiple lifting tasks. The Lifting Index (LI) is an index of the relative physical stress for performing a single lifting task and the Composite Lifting Index (CLI) is an index of the overall physical stress for performing multiple lifting tasks. NIOSH recommends an LI and a CLI of 1 or less for protecting workers from physical stress related to development of low back musculoskeletal disorders. Please refer to the Applications Manual for the Revised NIOSH Lifting Equation publication for examples and details on how calculations are performed and what the results imply.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: NLE Calc at 2.8 against Intelex Mobile's 2.1. NLE Calc also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). Intelex Mobile's advantage is review sentiment (17% vs 0%) and ratings volume (113 vs 10). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
NLE Calc holds the better App Store score, 2.8 against 2.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Intelex Mobile has 113 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 17% of Intelex Mobile's written reviews are positive against 0% of NLE Calc's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Intelex Mobile ships an update monthly, NLE Calc fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
