The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Futurehome at 100% against Home Assistant's 54%. Home Assistant's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (4K vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Home Assistant holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Home Assistant has 4K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of Home Assistant's written reviews are positive against 100% of Futurehome's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Home Assistant ships an update every 10 days, Futurehome monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
