Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Home Assistant at 4K against MACH TECH's 1. MACH TECH's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (12.2 vs 16.4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
MACH TECH holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Home Assistant has 4K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Home Assistant ships an update every 10 days, MACH TECH every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
