TrueEntropy
This app leverages your smartphone's camera to produce genuine random numbers by capturing thermal noise. It generates a high volume of entropy, suitable for cryptographic purposes, and can output data locally or remotely.
- Generate true random numbers from thermal noise
- Utilizes smartphone camera sensor
- High volume entropy generation
- Output binary files locally
- Send entropy via cryptographic relays
- Continuous generation mode

TrueEntropy uses your phone's camera to generate true random numbers derived from thermal noise. The camera in your smartphone is so advanced that it can detect even the smallest variations produced by fundamental particle physics. We capture thermal variations in every pixel of your phone's camera to create a powerful, high volume entropy random number generator. No need to move your phone - even if your phone is resting on a desktop, it is able to pick up a sufficient quantity of thermal variations to generate random numbers at a rate of 18Mb per minute. - Generate binary files for local use via AirDrop - Send entropy to a destination machine via cryptographic relays - Continuous generation mode to constantly reseed target machines

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: TrueEntropy at none against Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite's 1. TrueEntropy also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 41 months) and ratings volume (1.8K vs 11). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. TrueEntropy asks for nothing beyond the download.
Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite has 1.8K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 81% of Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite's written reviews are positive against 67% of TrueEntropy's.
Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite ships an update weekly, TrueEntropy every 41 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
