Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: MapSwipe at 76% against Voluntime's 46%. MapSwipe also leads on update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 5 months). Voluntime's advantage is ratings volume (844 vs 27) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Voluntime holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Voluntime has 844 ratings behind it against 27, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of MapSwipe's written reviews are positive against 46% of Voluntime's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
MapSwipe ships an update every 6 weeks, Voluntime every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
