A classic asteroids game with vector graphics. Inspired by the coin-op arcade games from the 80's, this game features a parallax background and glowing vector graphics that float on top for a pseudo 3D effect. To play you must stay alive by shooting asteroids, ufos, and space mines. The number of asteroids will increase as the game progresses, and the ufos will get smarter, and the space mines will start appearing sooner. Power up your shields and guns by collecting power-ups from destroyed asteroids. How long can you survive the deadly asteroid field?

One ship. A sky full of trouble. One more run. AstroBuster is a retro space shooter built for quick escapes and high-score chases. Dodge asteroid storms, blast alien raiders and dismantle a boss one turret at a time. Fly through star haze, passing planets and swirling galaxies as each sector pushes your reflexes further. FIND YOUR FLOW Steer with the joystick, line up your cannons and fire through the chaos. Chain asteroid kills to build combos, collect AstroCoins and use Time Warp to slow the action when the sky gets crowded. BUILD YOUR FIREPOWER Unlock double and triple cannons, continuous fire and health storage. Grab health pickups and invincibility gems to keep your run alive. Call in Rocket Buddy for two wing drones that send extra shots outward beside your ship. CHOOSE YOUR NEXT ADVANTAGE Pick from three perks between sectors. Faster bullets, longer shields, coin magnets, gold asteroids, stronger healing, quicker Warp recharge and combo bonuses can change the way you fly. MAKE THE SHIP YOURS Collect AstroShips, choose your AstroFire exhaust and dress your hull in camo skins. Mix your unlocked looks with Remix, then take your favorite setup into the next mission. CHASE SOMETHING NEW Take on the Daily Signal, earn achievement rewards and raise your Astro-Rank. Keep pushing your personal records through increasingly demanding sectors and four-turret boss encounters. ARCADE ATMOSPHERE, YOUR SETTINGS Crisp pixel lettering, sharp explosions, a changing space backdrop, music and sound effects bring each flight to life. Adjust music, effects and haptics separately. Optional quiet reminders only invite you back after time away. Play the core game offline. Purchases and purchase restoration require an internet connection. Optional AstroCoin packs are available through in-app purchases. Launch your next mission. How long can you keep the streak alive?

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: AstroBuster at 5.0 against Planetoids Deluxe's 4.3. Planetoids Deluxe's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Planetoids Deluxe sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and AstroBuster sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
AstroBuster holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Planetoids Deluxe has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Planetoids Deluxe ships an update fortnightly, AstroBuster every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
