Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Scrypted at 5.0 against SecuritySpy's 3.5. Scrypted also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1). SecuritySpy's advantage is review sentiment (57% vs 33%) and ratings volume (86 vs 16). On price, update cadence, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SecuritySpy sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Scrypted asks for nothing beyond the download.
Scrypted holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SecuritySpy has 86 ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of SecuritySpy's written reviews are positive against 33% of Scrypted's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
