Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Stairs at none against Twins's 7. Stairs also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (24K vs 51). Twins's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Twins sells 7 one-off in-app purchases. Stairs asks for nothing beyond the download.
Stairs holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Stairs has 24K ratings behind it against 51, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 72% of Twins's written reviews are positive against 68% of Stairs's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Twins ships an update every 3 weeks, Stairs every 3 months. Both last shipped on September 23, 2026.
