This is a fan application, LEGO® and the LEGO® logo are trademarks of the LEGO® Group, which does not sponsor, authorize or endorse this app. With the introduction of the LEGO® Minifigures Series 25, it is now possible to identify which minifigure is inside the box by scanning the data code on the bottom of the box. LEGO® has not yet confirmed this, so it may not work all the time, but many users have reported that the data codes match the minifigs correctly. This app allows you to quickly scan these data codes and reveal which minifigure should be in the box. The app may provide links to purchase products online in case you have difficulty finding them in stores. Some of these links may be affiliate links. Using these links allows the app to earn a small commission on qualified purchases at no additional cost to you.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Code Scan at none against Minifig Scan's 3. Code Scan also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). Minifig Scan's advantage is ratings volume (2.9K vs 3) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 weeks). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Minifig Scan sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Code Scan asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Code Scan against 4.9 for Minifig Scan. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Minifig Scan has 2.9K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Code Scan's written reviews are positive against 98% of Minifig Scan's.
Code Scan ships an update every 4 weeks, Minifig Scan every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
