Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Solid Metal Gear at 100% against Steam Link's 43%. Solid Metal Gear also leads on rating (4.4 vs 3.3) and iOS requirement (6.0 vs 15.0). Steam Link's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (3K vs 17). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Solid Metal Gear sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Steam Link asks for nothing beyond the download.
Solid Metal Gear holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Steam Link has 3K ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two.
