WeightMate Nutrition is a food logger for people who want honest calorie and macro math — without ads, upsells in your face, or a coaching script. Train in Fitness Log. Eat here. One account. Use the same WeightMate sign-in for both apps. Log workouts in Fitness Log and meals in Nutrition — no second account required. Your diary syncs on our shared backend; you do not need Apple Health or Health Connect just to move data between the two WeightMate apps. What you get • Diary — calorie ring, protein / carbs / fat, and a meal diary across days you can actually keep up with; Logged and Planned views let you preview the day before everything is logged • Plan meals — schedule a food once or on repeating weekdays; it stays as a plan until you log it • Foods — USDA search, barcode scan, custom foods, your own recipes, and optional AI meal photo estimates you always confirm before logging • Recipes — build meals from ingredients, see macros per serving, and share recipes with a code so friends can import them • Grocery list — build an offline checklist from eaten Diary days or from planned meals (Profile) • Progress — daily and weekly charts for calories, macros, and weight, with an optional target weight line on the weight chart • Energy balance — week-by-week intake vs burn; for days without food logs, choose fasted, a quick calorie estimate, or your weekly average (unlogged days are not treated as zero); compare actual week-end weight to a projection from that week’s balance • Metabolic insights — BMR and TDEE estimates, optional weight target with pace hints, and a snapshot of how complete your last 7 days of food logging are • Weight for metabolism — optional BMR tools use Fitness Log check-in weight first, then body weight from Apple Health or Health Connect if you allow it, or a weight you type • Optional glucose insights — import CGM from Apple Health or Health Connect, or log fingerstick (BGM) readings yourself; put insulin on the same timeline; compare meter vs CGM when you have both; and spot food–glucose patterns over time (kept on your device by default — optional encrypted backup if you turn it on) • Optional Health sync — write logged meals to Apple Health or Health Connect for other apps (not required between WeightMate Fitness Log and Nutrition) Pricing that stays out of your way • No ads — ever • 14-day free trial — no payment method required to start • About $1/month after trial, with yearly and lifetime options in Plans & billing (see in-app pricing for your store and region) • Optional AI meal photo packs — consumable credits in Plans & billing if you want more photo-based logging • Referral codes — same system as Fitness Log: share your code from Profile; friends get 7 extra trial days when they enter it at sign-up, and you earn referral credit toward access (shared across both apps on one account) Built for clarity, not clinic visits WeightMate Nutrition is a consumer logging tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or manage diabetes or any other condition, and it does not recommend insulin doses or medication. Confirm important readings on your CGM or meter. Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: WeightMate Nutrition at 100% against Volt's 73%. WeightMate Nutrition also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Volt's advantage is ratings volume (17K vs 2) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Volt sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and WeightMate Nutrition sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
WeightMate Nutrition holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Volt has 17K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 73% of Volt's written reviews are positive against 100% of WeightMate Nutrition's.
Volt ships an update weekly, WeightMate Nutrition every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on November 6, 2026.
