Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Hours at 16K against WorkHours's 1.2K. Hours also leads on iOS requirement (10.0 vs 15.6). WorkHours's advantage is review sentiment (85% vs 73%) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Hours sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and WorkHours sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Hours against 4.7 for WorkHours. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hours has 16K ratings behind it against 1.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 73% of Hours's written reviews are positive against 85% of WorkHours's.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
