Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Steam Link at 3.3 against PXN MFI Tools's 2.8. Steam Link also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 10 months) and ratings volume (3K vs 10). PXN MFI Tools's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Steam Link holds the better App Store score, 3.3 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Steam Link has 3K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of Steam Link's written reviews are positive against 47% of PXN MFI Tools's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Steam Link ships an update every 3 weeks, PXN MFI Tools every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
