Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Screen Memo at 5.0 against ClipExt's 4.0. Screen Memo also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). ClipExt's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screen Memo sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. ClipExt asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Screen Memo holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ClipExt has 33 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of ClipExt's written reviews are positive against 33% of Screen Memo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

ClipExt ships an update every 2 months, Screen Memo fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
