Backgammon the way it is played across a real table: a wooden board in 3D, checkers you drag from point to point, and dice thrown from a leather cup. PLAY THE COMPUTER Five opponents, from Beginner, who plays for fun and misses a lot, to Expert, who looks at your reply before every move and knows when to double. The stronger levels play better — they are never given better dice. Every roll is random, for you and for the computer alike. PLAY A FRIEND Pass and play on one iPhone or iPad. The board can turn between turns, so each player looks at their own home board. THE WHOLE RULEBOOK Hitting and the bar, bearing off, gammons and backgammons, the doubling cube and the Crawford rule. Play a single game or a match to 3, 5, 7 or 11 points. LEARN AS YOU GO Eight short lessons take you from setting up the board to what to do with a double. Move hints show which checkers can move and where they can land — as much or as little help as you want. MAKE IT YOURS Earn coins and levels as you play, claim a daily reward, and unlock boards, checker sets, dice and avatars. Your progress follows you between iPhone and iPad through your own iCloud. MORE • Undo a move before you finish your turn • Statistics, win streaks and a rating against the computer • Game Center leaderboards and achievements • Colour-blind markers and a high-contrast board • Plays offline, in English and Danish PREMIUM Backgammon is free with ads. Premium removes the ads and adds seven more boards, Luxury among them, the Gold, Galaxy and Fire dice, gold checkers and two avatars — monthly, yearly or once for good. Premium changes how the game looks, never how it plays. Subscriptions renew automatically at the price shown unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Backgammon at none against Backgammon's 3. Backgammon also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
