MBSC vs Infection Score

This mobile application delivers healthcare providers an easy-to-use resource for predicting outcomes and VTE risk for bariatric surgery candidates. Predicted outcomes include projected weight loss, complication risk, and resolution of comorbidities for the most common bariatric surgical procedures. The VTE calculator provides risk-stratified treatment guidelines. The content was developed by the Michigan Bariatric Surgery Collaborative (MBSC), a Blue Cross Blue Shield/ Blue Care Network of Michigan sponsored consortium of bariatric surgeons and hospitals across the state of Michigan. The Deep Infection Risk Score for Open Tibia Fractures scoring app is based on a large study performed at the R. Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center. This retrospective study reviewed 769 open tibia fractures treated over a 14 year period and found 4 factors that predicted deep infection following treatment. Entering fracture characteristics into the app will return a predictive score based on the model developed in this study.
