Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Lightning GPS at 3.3 against Tracki GPS's 2.7. Lightning GPS also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Tracki GPS's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (465 vs 21). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Lightning GPS holds the better App Store score, 3.3 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tracki GPS has 465 ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Lightning GPS's written reviews are positive against 42% of Tracki GPS's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Lightning GPS ships an update every 7 months, Tracki GPS every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
