Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: iTAK at none against TrailMap's 1. iTAK also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (156 vs 9). TrailMap's advantage is iOS requirement (10.1 vs 17.6). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TrailMap sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. iTAK asks for nothing beyond the download.
iTAK holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.3. TrailMap ships an update every 2 months, iTAK every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
