Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: ESC CVD Risk Calculation at 100% against Physicians’ CPD's 42%. ESC CVD Risk Calculation also leads on ratings volume (33 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Physicians’ CPD's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and update cadence (every 6 months vs every 12 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Physicians’ CPD holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ESC CVD Risk Calculation has 33 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of Physicians’ CPD's written reviews are positive against 100% of ESC CVD Risk Calculation's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Physicians’ CPD ships an update every 6 months, ESC CVD Risk Calculation every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
