Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Ling at 61% against CU NEX's 16%. Ling also leads on rating (4.6 vs 2.3) and update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). CU NEX's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 22) and ads (none vs shown). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ling sells 20 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. CU NEX asks for nothing beyond the download.
Ling holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ling has 16K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 16% of CU NEX's written reviews are positive against 61% of Ling's.
CU NEX ships an update every 2 months, Ling weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
