1Blocker lets you block obtrusive ads, sneaky trackers, and annoying elements on sites. With 1Blocker, you’re safe online and nothing will distract you from enjoying sites. 1Blocker is very easy to use — just flip a couple of switches to start blocking ads and trackers. The app will automatically receive cloud updates to the built-in filters silently, so you don’t need to do anything. It’s as simple as setting and forgetting. 1Blocker is a fully native app designed to extend Safari naturally. It’s lightweight and doesn’t drain your battery by taking up your device’s resources. The blocking itself is super fast because Safari does it itself. We only provide filters to Safari and don’t modify webpages in any way. This vastly improves efficiency because Safari knows in advance what should be blocked. So, with 1Blocker, sites load on average 2-5x faster. It’s important to note that not all ads can be blocked though. Some sites use techniques that make it impossible for us to block their ads using currently available features for Safari content blockers. SECURE BY DESIGN 1Blocker is secure and private. It doesn’t have access to webpages and doesn’t track you in any way. We believe that privacy is not for sale. That's why we don't have an "Acceptable Ads" program. We stay independent, and the only way we make money is through direct sales of 1Blocker in the App Store to you. ADVANCED CUSTOMIZATION 1Blocker is a highly customizable content blocker, providing the possibility to create powerful custom rules. It allows you to create custom rules that block any URL by providing a regular expression or hide any element by CSS. It also lets you block cookies. (Available in Premium) AVAILABLE ON ALL DEVICES 1Blocker is available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Your preferences and custom rules are always in sync through iCloud no matter which device you're using. FEATURED IN THE PRESS 1Blocker has been featured in TechCrunch, Lifehacker, MacStories, Macworld, and many more. FEATURES AVAILABLE FOR FREE • The ability to enable one category (for example, Block Ads only) • Whitelisting sites right from the Safari extension • Whitelist synchronization between devices via iCloud FRIENDLY SUPPORT Send your feedback at @1BlockerApp on Twitter or via email. Your feedback is always very welcome and considered for the next release. We have been making 1Blocker since 2015. We believe it’s the best all-around package currently available in the App Store. Rooster Wake
Read full descriptionHide full description
Rooster Wake is for a computer that should be asleep by default, awake while it is being used, and there when you need it. Send a machine to sleep from the sofa, or from another country. Hold it awake while a long job runs, and let it drop back to sleep ten minutes after the last activity. Wake it before you sit down at it. See what the arrangement saved. THE MACHINE'S DAY • Sleep — one tap, and the machine suspends in seconds • Keep awake — hold it up for a window you choose, and it sleeps again by itself when the window ends • It holds itself up while it is genuinely in use: a remote session, a file transfer, a download, a coding session — and lets go ten minutes after the last activity • Restart and shut down, with every action confirmed rather than assumed • Wake it before you sit down at it, or on a schedule that keeps to the clock through the daylight-saving changes WAKING: THE PART THAT DEPENDS ON YOUR HARDWARE A sleeping PC cannot wake itself, so the wake is sent by something on its own network that stays awake: an Amazon Echo you already own, through the free Alexa skill; the free Rooster Wake agent on a NAS, a Home Assistant box, a mini PC or a Raspberry Pi; or a small dongle you build. A wired desktop wakes on a packet. A laptop on Wi-Fi cannot be woken over the network at all — that is the radio, not us — so you sleep it from here and wake it at its own keyboard or by opening the lid. Everything else in this list still works on it. WHAT'S IN THE APP • One roster for every machine, with live presence and the state each one is in • Sleep, keep awake, restart, shut down and wake — with the reason when something does not land • Schedules: wake or power down on a timetable • Voice: "Alexa, turn on the office PC" — the Alexa skill is free on every plan • Share access with family or a team, with roles that limit what each person can do • Activity history: every wake and power action, who asked, and whether it worked • Push notifications when a machine comes up or goes down • An estimate of the electricity saved over the hours your machines spend asleep, priced at your own tariff Getting started is free: sign in with your email and install the free agent on the machine you want to control — it adds itself to your list. Verdict
The clearest difference is device support: 1Blocker at 4 against Rooster Wake's 2. On price, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. 1Blocker sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Rooster Wake sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
