Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Mindflow at 100% against Academia.edu's 74%. Mindflow also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Academia.edu's advantage is ratings volume (17K vs 2) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Academia.edu sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Mindflow sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Mindflow holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Academia.edu has 17K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 74% of Academia.edu's written reviews are positive against 100% of Mindflow's.
Academia.edu ships an update every 2 weeks, Mindflow every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
