Verdict

The call

WordHolic | DIY Flash Cards! and StuLOG both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 90% of WordHolic | DIY Flash Cards!'s written reviews are positive against 43% of StuLOG's. WordHolic | DIY Flash Cards! also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (553 vs 7). StuLOG's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. WordHolic | DIY Flash Cards! sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and StuLOG sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

StuLOG holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WordHolic | DIY Flash Cards! has 553 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of WordHolic | DIY Flash Cards!'s written reviews are positive against 43% of StuLOG's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

WordHolic | DIY Flash Cards! ships an update weekly, StuLOG every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
