Help us in the search for ghost nets! With the GhostDiver app, you as an experienced diver can check already reported positions of lost fishing gear and thus make an important contribution to clean seas and a healthy underwater landscape. Professional divers are in place for an optimal and efficient recovery! The app shows you potential positions of ghost nets on a map. With your support we will find out, whether the find really is a ghost net! Dive at the location and verify the position. With this important information, the recovery of lost fishing gear can be optimally prepared and the nets recovered by specially trained divers. You have discovered a ghost net yourself? Report your find in the GhostDiver app and thereby make it accessible to our recovery divers. HOW THE APP WORKS: The app shows you potential ghost net locations on a map. These points were determined using a sonar device, which maps the seafloor. Save interesting points in the app and use the route function to plan your next dive. The routes can be exported as .gpx files. The app provides you with the exact position, a calculated dive depth, and the sonar image, so you are perfectly prepared for your dive. Use the report function to share your own finds. In the profile section you can learn everything about the WWF mission and the technology employed. ATTENTION: The app is only for confirming potential ghost net locations and reporting your own finds. Dive only according to your skills and use the positions shown on the map only to verify them. Recovery is done by professional divers with appropriate equipment and a recovery boat! IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS: - Verification of potential positions - Report function: reporting of new positions and own sightings - Favorites: Save potential positions in the memo - Route: planning of dive route to visit potential positions - .gpx export: downloading of route as .gpx for dive computer - Language: English, German, Polish, French and Spanish WWF GhostDiver - Help us to free our oceans from ghost nets!
