Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: DairyBar at none against Solid Food Diary's shown. DairyBar also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (466 vs 2). Solid Food Diary's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Solid Food Diary holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DairyBar has 466 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of DairyBar's written reviews are positive against 56% of Solid Food Diary's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

DairyBar ships an update every 9 days, Solid Food Diary every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
