Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Astral Hoops at none against Trusted Herd's shown. Astral Hoops also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Trusted Herd's advantage is ratings volume (14K vs 8) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Astral Hoops holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Trusted Herd has 14K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of Trusted Herd's written reviews are positive against 60% of Astral Hoops's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Trusted Herd ships an update weekly, Astral Hoops every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
