Verdict
Trusted Herd and Obra both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 70% of Trusted Herd's written reviews are positive against 25% of Obra's. Trusted Herd also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (14K vs 77). Obra's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Trusted Herd against 4.7 for Obra. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Trusted Herd has 14K ratings behind it against 77, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 70% of Trusted Herd's written reviews are positive against 25% of Obra's.
Trusted Herd ships an update weekly, Obra every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
