SolMo is the daily social spotlight app: every day, one random person becomes the only featured profile in the SolMo pool — visible to everyone for 24 hours, then gone. No feed. No followers. Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SolMo at none against Backbone's 16. SolMo also leads on update cadence (daily vs every 3 weeks) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Backbone's advantage is ratings volume (101K vs 1) and chart position (#68 vs unranked). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backbone sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. SolMo asks for nothing beyond the download.
SolMo holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backbone has 101K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Backbone ships an update every 3 weeks, SolMo daily. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
