Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: ComicBase Mobile at 5.0 against Proton Calendar's 4.1. ComicBase Mobile also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 weeks). Proton Calendar's advantage is ratings volume (1.6K vs 2) and review sentiment (41% vs 25%). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proton Calendar sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. ComicBase Mobile asks for nothing beyond the download.
ComicBase Mobile holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proton Calendar has 1.6K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of ComicBase Mobile's written reviews are positive against 41% of Proton Calendar's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
ComicBase Mobile ships an update every 2 weeks, Proton Calendar every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
