RenoPlan helps anyone -- whether home contractors, interior designers, sales reps, architects, DIYers -- to quickly and accurately measure residential homes or office buildings to create floor plans and project estimates. The app can handle just about measuring jobs, like room drawings, doors, windows, kitchen countertops/cabinets, tubs, and showers. RenoPlan makes it easy for your renovation, remodeling and restoration projects. As you create your plan, the app automatically calculates floor, wall areas and perimeters of room areas so as to estimate product usages. This can mean big savings for your projects. It is handy to create estimates and invoices with attached floor plan diagrams and photos, so professionals like contractors can win a job and get client signatures on the spot. And when the job is done, send an invoice to the client to get paid faster. RenoPlan leverages your device's powerful AR (ARKit) and LiDAR capabilities to measure room in seconds, which will be very handy in the accuracy-insensitive scenarios. For professional projects, RenoPlan is integrated with Leica Disto, Bosch, and DeWalt laser meters, capable of measuring room quickly and accurately. With the app, you can also markup and attach site measurements and photos, which can be included in a professional report. Supported laser models: - Leica Disto D1, D2, E7100i - Bosch GLM 50C, 100C, 120C, 150C, 400C, 400CL - DeWALT DW099S, DW0165S, DW0330S - Moasure One (New)

PlanSnap is an easy way to add photos to PDF plans. The app organizes construction pictures by pinning them to specific locations on a plan. Then you can download or share the set of PDF + photos with other team members. Created by structural design firm DLK Engineering LLC, PlanSnap is designed to help contractors, engineers, and architects share project photos and minimize the need for on-site meetings. For architects and engineers, upload your PDF set and share the link with a contractor. When the someone adds pictures to the PDF, anyone with the link can view, download, or share them with others. Note that you can also add photos of your hand sketches, screenshots, etc. For contractors, upload a new PDF by choosing a file from you phone (or open a previous PlanSnap link), and then start adding photos by long-tapping any spot on the PDF.  Then a link can be shared to give other team members access to the PDF with the photos. If there is no reception at the jobsite, leave PlanSnap open so it can upload your photos when you are reconnected. Or, you can just add photos to the PDF from your phone gallery at anytime. Tip for locating photos: For maximum clarity, pin the photo to the location on the PDF that represents *where you were standing* when you took it, rather than pinning it to the element you photographed. Tip for sharing links: Save your PlanSnap links (in a shared Note, for instance) so you find them later as needed. And then download your photos to keep a backup copy. NOTE: Photos are not stored by PlanSnap forever, so make sure to download and keep your photo sets for your own records!

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: PlanSnap at none against RenoPlan's 6. PlanSnap also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). RenoPlan's advantage is ratings volume (751 vs 2) and review sentiment (62% vs 50%). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. RenoPlan sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. PlanSnap asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

PlanSnap holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RenoPlan has 751 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of RenoPlan's written reviews are positive against 50% of PlanSnap's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

RenoPlan ships an update fortnightly, PlanSnap weekly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
