Verdict
Cipchat and K9 Chat both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of K9 Chat's written reviews are positive against 20% of Cipchat's. K9 Chat also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Cipchat's advantage is ratings volume (61 vs 2) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.5).
