INDS Data Manager (IDM) vs DCTU

INDS Data Manager (IDM) by Jeppesen and Honeywell provides pilots and operators, who subscribe to INDS services, the ability to seamlessly upload their flight-critical databases directly to the Honeywell avionics, through a wireless connection, to the aircraft using an iPad and a supported wireless gateway. This iPad application is a first for the aviation industry. With the proper aircraft equipment and configuration, it greatly improves efficiencies in the data update process. By combining the data distribution and data loader process into one simple tool, it saves pilots and operators time and cost uploading the aircraft with flight-critical information each cycle. The Pratt and Whitney Digital Engine Services (DES) team developed the Data Collection and Transmission Unit (DCTU) application to communicate with the DCTU hardware on the PT6 E-Series™ engine using wireless connection to perform maintenance actions such as: – View/Change electronic engine control (EEC) and DCTU parameters – Retrieve Events, Exceedances & Faults (EEF) – Retrieve EEC diagnostics data via DCTU – Monitor health status on DCTU – Perform live data diagnostics on DCTU and EEC – Perform test transmission from DCTU to the ground station – Change engine modules by barcode scanning (or) through Manual entry – Change Line Replacement Units (LRUs) by barcode scanning (or) through Manual entry – Supports to do a BOV(Bleed of Valve) closing point check along with the Bluetooth pressure transducer – Allows user to generate locally stored file to enter data related to LRUs and Engine Modules while not connected to DCTU The DCTU hardware provides the capability for the operators to collect data in real-time, record the data to non-volatile memory, make connections to ground support equipment, either wired or wirelessly, and offload data to the ground support equipment.
