VALT is one app with two parts: a DVPN and data removal. DVPN Pick a city and tap Connect. Your traffic runs through a node there, run by an independent operator, not one company. Your internet provider sees that server, not the sites you visit. VALT doesn't keep the sites you visit either. Data removal Fill in removal setup once. VALT files opt-out requests with data brokers and people-search sites for you, checks them again every month, and files again when a listing comes back. Setup never asks for a Social Security number, a government ID or a phone number. Privacy without the homework Sign up with your email and a six-digit code. There's no password. Each part is its own product with its own plan. If you used the old VALT app, sign in with the same email: your plan and your removal history come with you. Data removal is for adults 18 and over, in the US, Canada outside Quebec, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Orchid at 4.6 against VALT's 4.3. Orchid also leads on ratings volume (225 vs 18) and device support (4 vs 2). VALT's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 5 weeks) and review sentiment (83% vs 66%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Orchid sells 8 one-off in-app purchases and VALT sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Orchid holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Orchid has 225 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 66% of Orchid's written reviews are positive against 83% of VALT's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Orchid ships an update every 5 weeks, VALT every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
