Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: All About Local at 75% against Smart & Final's 15%. All About Local also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Smart & Final's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.3) and ratings volume (9.7K vs 14). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Smart & Final holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smart & Final has 9.7K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 15% of Smart & Final's written reviews are positive against 75% of All About Local's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Smart & Final ships an update every 2 months, All About Local monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
