Verdict
Rotten Robbie and UCSC Menu both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of UCSC Menu's written reviews are positive against 21% of Rotten Robbie's. UCSC Menu also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). Rotten Robbie's advantage is ratings volume (360 vs 17). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Rotten Robbie holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rotten Robbie has 360 ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 21% of Rotten Robbie's written reviews are positive against 100% of UCSC Menu's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Rotten Robbie ships an update every 3 months, UCSC Menu fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
