iOverlander is a mapping app to help travelers find camping and accommodation worldwide - no matter how remote your destination. Only real places by real travelers. Unbiased and never sponsored. There is no list or robot that can ever replace what a traveler says standing right there in that spot. Typos and all, we believe the best data comes from overlanders onsite. No signal? No problem. The best places on this planet don’t have cell signal. All our data is stored on your phone, so you can plan your day without wifi. Download offline maps of entire states and countries, that give you all the tiny alleys, building footprints, and small landmarks to make travel easier. Campsites are just the beginning. Mechanics, restaurants, hotels, propane, water, wifi, shopping, laundry, showers, doctors, tourist attractions, border crossings, warnings, checkpoints, insurance, storage, shipping, consulates, banks, and more. Moderated by overlanders, not AI. Our moderators have spent a collective century on the road and 30,000 hours moderating entries. They’re not planning to stop anytime soon. But wait, there's more! In addition to finding places, you can add new ones, leave reviews, save favorites, and share places with other travelers. Subscribe to iOverlander Pro or Unlimited to download offline maps, access satellite maps, BLM and USFS overlays, save filters, search and more! Wherever you're headed, we've got your next destination. ____ Terms of Service: https://ioverlander.com/terms Privacy Policy: https://ioverlander.com/privacy_policy

LIVE PUBLIC-LAND MAP Pulls real campsite data from Recreation.gov, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, California State Parks, and OpenStreetMap. Color-coded pins show what's verified legal, likely legal, or unverified at a glance. VERIFIED TRIP JOURNAL Anyone can claim they camped somewhere. On Boonpoint you can only log a stay if your phone confirms you actually slept there — within 200 meters. Every entry in your trip journal is a place you woke up at, not a place you drove by. Photos, fuel cost, who you were with, mini map — export any trip as a PDF. COMMUNITY REVIEWS After a verified stay you can post how a spot was — and read what other travelers reported. Got the knock and had to move on? You can still leave a review. Water, dump, and propane spots can be reviewed too. Report or block anything off. BLM + USFS OVERLAYS (Pro) Amber polygons show BLM-managed land where dispersed camping is typically legal (14 days, 25-mile radius). Yellow lines show USFS motor vehicle routes — the only legal access for dispersed camping in National Forests. Tap any area for the full rules. OFFLINE REGIONS (Pro) Cell service is a lie at most dispersed sites. Download the spots in a region before you leave home — Boonpoint falls back to them automatically when you're off-grid. WEATHER + GOLDEN HOUR NOAA National Weather Service forecast and sunrise/sunset at every spot. Plan the drive so you arrive before dark. DIRECTIONS HAND-OFF One-tap to Apple Maps (CarPlay-ready), Google Maps, or Waze. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No analytics SDKs. No trackers. No ad IDs. Your trip journal syncs through your own private iCloud database — even we can't see it. The one thing that's public is community reviews you choose to post, which are shared with other travelers. Sign in with Apple is the only auth method, and only logging a verified stay needs it. —— Pricing —— Free forever for 50 spot views per month. Pro unlocks unlimited spots, the BLM/USFS overlays, offline downloads, and every future Pro feature. • Monthly: $9.99 per month • Yearly: $49.99 per year (~58% off monthly) Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Manage and cancel from Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: iOverlander at 4.2 against Boonpoint's 3.0. iOverlander also leads on ratings volume (7.5K vs 1) and review sentiment (18% vs 0%). Boonpoint's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 days vs fortnightly). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. iOverlander sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Boonpoint sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
iOverlander holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: iOverlander has 7.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 18% of iOverlander's written reviews are positive against 0% of Boonpoint's.
iOverlander ships an update fortnightly, Boonpoint every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
