Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Tonic Music at none against MiMi's 6. Tonic Music also leads on ratings volume (2.5K vs 10) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 5 weeks). MiMi's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.4). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MiMi sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Tonic Music asks for nothing beyond the download.
MiMi holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tonic Music has 2.5K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of MiMi's written reviews are positive against 80% of Tonic Music's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
MiMi ships an update every 5 weeks, Tonic Music every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
