Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Anime Expo Official at 4.8 against Streaming+'s 3.0. Anime Expo Official also leads on review sentiment (37% vs 2%) and ratings volume (1.1K vs 2). Streaming+'s advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 12 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Anime Expo Official holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Anime Expo Official has 1.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 37% of Anime Expo Official's written reviews are positive against 2% of Streaming+'s.
Anime Expo Official ships an update every 12 months, Streaming+ monthly. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
