Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Universal TV Remote at 100% against Jebena's 37%. Universal TV Remote also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly). Jebena's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (1.7K vs 4). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Jebena sells 8 one-off in-app purchases and Universal TV Remote sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Jebena holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Jebena has 1.7K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 37% of Jebena's written reviews are positive against 100% of Universal TV Remote's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Jebena ships an update monthly, Universal TV Remote every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
