Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: JoySauceTV at none against RetroCrush's 2. RetroCrush's advantage is ratings volume (4.4K vs 8). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. RetroCrush sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. JoySauceTV asks for nothing beyond the download.
RetroCrush holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RetroCrush has 4.4K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 50% and 50% positive.
RetroCrush ships an update every 3 months, JoySauceTV every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
