When developing Forma, I paid special attention to minimalism. As a result, I got a fully functional workout tracker, which works completely offline and has no extra functions at all. The interface is so intuitive that it is impossible to get lost. I’ve honestly tried my best to make it nice & simple! The app is great for both gym and at home workout, because the list of exercises is created by you. Instead of hundreds of preset workout programs (invented by nobody knows who), you form your own database - leave only what is important for you personally. ‣ Create any exercise: from yoga to strength training. ‣ Customize them: workout with dumbbells, barbells or with your own weight. ‣ Log your results in a few clicks. ‣ Keep track of your progress: stay toned, gain or lose weight. Together with other users who regularly write great reviews, we strive to keep the app simple. As a result, as many superfluous elements as possible have been eliminated from the app, but functionality has been retained. However, if you do miss something, you can always contact me directly from the app and I will try to implement your ideas. The only limitation of the free version is the maximum amount of 8 workouts. You can ignore this limit by deleting old workouts, or remove the restriction completely with a premium subscription at a reasonable price. This kind of support, as well as honest feedback, helps me grow the project. I promise, I do not and will not have any advertising and unnecessary purchases. Everything is extremely transparent. I am using it myself, so I do not want to make another Frankenstein out of the app. Policy: http://gymtracker.tilda.ws/privacy-policy Terms and Conditions: http://gymtracker.tilda.ws/terms-of-use Thank you for reading to the end, so it was not in vain!

Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Forma at 94% against Workout Planner's 0%. Forma also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 23 months) and ratings volume (268 vs 1). Workout Planner's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Forma sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Workout Planner sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Workout Planner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Forma has 268 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 94% of Forma's written reviews are positive against 0% of Workout Planner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Forma ships an update weekly, Workout Planner every 23 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
